POWER SUPPLY
Any power supply with a centre negative 2.1mm barrel connector and which meets the pedal’s specific power requirements will be suitable; however, if the supply doesn’t have sufficient internal filtering then unwanted noise may occur. I recommend using a regulated power supply designed for use with effect pedals, for low-noise and reliability considerations. It should be noted that certain switch-mode supplies can cause issues due to noise they create, bleeding onto the audio signal.
Here is a list of power supplies which I can recommend:
- Voodoo Labs Pedal Power PP2 / ISO5
- Cioks DC5
- Truetone CS6
- Strymon Ojai
- Electro-Harmonix 9.6DC-200
VOLTAGE
Certain Broadcasts and Sidecars can be run at voltages between 9VDC and 24VDC, with higher voltages giving the pedal more headroom (especially in the low frequencies). ONLY THE FOLLOWING PEDALS MAY BE RUN AT VOLTAGES UP 24VDC:
- BROADCAST-AP
- BROADCAST (blue finish / red, grey, black knobs / one foot switch)
- DUAL BROADCAST (dark red knobs / two foot switches)
- SIDECAR (black finish / silver knobs / one foot switch)
- GREEN SPARKLE DUAL BROADCAST (JOE’S PEDALS) (green sparkle finish / white knobs / two foot switches)
- GREEN SPARKLE SIDECAR (JOE’S PEDALS) (green sparkle finish / white knobs / one foot switch)
- DUAL BROADCAST x REGENT SOUNDS (sand finish / black knobs / two foot switches)
- BROADCAST DUAL MOJO (white finish / white knobs / two foot switches)
IMPORTANT!
ALL OTHER BROADCASTS MUST ONLY BE RUN AT A MAXIMUM OF 9.6VDC. These pedals contain an internal voltage booster which converts the 9VDC coming in from the power supply and boosts it up to 24VDC. Running these pedals at voltages greater than 9.6VDC will damage the pedal, have no effect on the sound and will invalidate the warranty. If you are unsure what voltage your pedal can be run at, please contact us.
24VDC
Use two 12VDC isolated outputs from your pedal power supply in conjunction with a voltage doubler cable to get the required 24VDC. Alternatively, you can use a single 12VDC output in conjunction with a voltage doubler device, such as the GigRig Doubler or Truetone TT-TVD. You should always consult the manual of your power supply or check with the manufacturer to see if this is possible.
