BROADCAST AP-II – Trim Potentiometer adjustment

The Broadcast AP-II also has four trim potentiometers (trimmers) located inside the pedal, these set the gain and low frequency content of each preamplifier circuit.

Before attempting to adjust the trimmers, please fully unplug the pedal from the power supply, guitar, amplifier or other pedals. The trimmers can be accessed by carefully removing the four base screws with a PH2 type screwdriver.

With the pedal open and the foot-switches at the bottom, the trimmers are located as indicated below, these are also labelled  on the circuit board.

They should only be adjusted with a flat/slotted 2.5mm screwdriver. The trimmers can be quite sensitive so only make small adjustments at a time, listening to the results between adjustments.

SILICON GAIN – Turning the trimmer clockwise increases the gain of the silicon preamplifier. By default this is set for the minimum amount of gain.

GERMANIUM GAIN– Turning the trimmer clockwise increases the gain of the germanium preamplifier. By default this is set for the minimum amount of gain.

SILICON LOW CUT– Turning the trimmer clockwise cuts low frequencies  from the silicon preamplifier’s signal. By default this is set for the full frequency range to pass.

GERMANIUM LOW CUT – Turning the trimmer clockwise cuts low frequencies  from the germanium preamplifier’s signal. By default this is set for the full frequency range to pass.

A word of caution: setting the gain trimmers to maximum results in a very fuzzy sound and a massive volume boost.
